We had an amazing start to our tree planting journey by planting our first 100 trees in Cemetery Lane in Hummersknott.
This are is a picturesque path that runs alongside the Cemetery. There are already quite a few mature trees there and our idea was to enhance the are area by filling in gaps and also help with the flooding that tends to happen there. We had 19 volunteers and were joined by one of the Council’s Park Rangers. We planted mainly willow and alders.
Update from July 20 – the trees are flourishing with the tallest tree already being waist height!
